Open Use Policy
GAOES-RV will be opened as a PI instrument in the semester 2023B of Seimei Telescope. Please be sure to contact the instrument PI (Bun'ei Sato, Tokyo Institute of Technology; satobn__at__eps.sci.titech.ac.jp) in advance and include him as a co-I in your observation proposal.
In addition, the instrument will be opened on Risk Share. Please understand that depending on the situation, restrictions on observation functions and cancellation of assigned time may occur.
ToO Policy
GAOES-RV has the following restrictions on the time required from reception of ToO to start of observation depending on the startup status of the instrument.
- Basically, the refrigerator of GAOES-RV shall be activated from three days before the predetermined classical observation period. It shall be stopped immediately after the observation period.
- If ToO is triggered outside of these periods, basically the refrigerator will be activated during the observatory staff's working hours.
- It takes about 10 hours from the start of the refrigerator until GAOES-RV becomes observable.
Overhead time
- Target acquisition ∼ Start of guiding
- < 1 min
- Readout time
- ∼ 30 sec
- Shack-Hartmann test (Telescope focusing and M1 alignment)
- ∼ 3 min
- Cooling time of the coldhead from room to the operation temperature
- ∼ 10 hrs
Target list
Observers are required to prepare their own target lists to use in ''cont380'' (GUI for telescope control), like
